Our founder is a unicorn; as the creator of the lash extension industry, she began her career in the cosmetic industry at the tender age of eleven, when she got her first break doing makeup for a sports photographer. From there, she dedicated her life to studying complex medical science while developing the artistic and creative skills required to become an accomplished inventor and creator of the first lash extension company. 

In her 20s, she diligently studied fine art in Europe for four years. She completed her pre-med studies at USC, a cosmetic chemistry and skin physiology program at UCLA, and three years of a Ph.D. in molecular biology. 

During her studies and career as a scientist, Sophy kept one foot in the lab and one behind a cosmetic counter. This rare and unique background gave her the creative skills to go on to receive multiple patents worldwide.

Her childhood goal was to slowly bring back the glamour of false lashes from the 50s and 60s. She assembled a team of doctors, biochemists, and neuroscientists to ensure that NovaLash's products and techniques were not only the most durable and attractive but also the only ones that could pass a series of laboratory safety tests that no other products could pass. 

In 2004, she launched the groundbreaking first products and techniques that allowed women's lashes to look natural and believable but better without spending time applying and removing mascara every day for a month. 

Slowly the word got out, and soon, infinite numbers of imitation brands popped up, but they lacked the patented products and research-based techniques that allowed the extensions to stay on and still look beautiful throughout the month. 

To help create more entrepreneurial opportunities for American women, Sophy lobbied the legislature and successfully wrote and passed the nation's first bill that allowed people to obtain an eyelash extension technician specialty license. Today, NovaLash Eyelash Extensions are available in thousands of salons and spas around the globe. In 45 different countries, there are hundreds of thousands of entrepreneurial success stories NovaLash has created for people worldwide.
